D.S. are single letters taken from our father and mother’s first names. If our company were a person, it would be the head of a household, a parent. A strong presence with clear values, and who is responsible, accountable, trustworthy, reliable, and caring.

D.S. Agro Industries was established in 2014 by our late father, Mr Dillishwor Darnal, a highly respected member of our community. He was a visionary person and saw the potential for coffee production in eastern Nepal.

about us

Family owned, PREMIUM ARABICA

He created the Dhankuta District Coffee Producer Association, bringing together 451 coffee farmers in the local community. Member coffee farmers remember him as “Father of coffee in the Dhankuta”.

Today, D.S. Agro remains a family-operated business. All our family members have agricultural degrees as well as training in coffee farming, including Q processor level 2. We started farming coffee commercially in 2014 with the support of a qualified agronomist.

Mission statement

The primary strength behind D.S. Agro is the woman who runs it, Sukha Maya Darnal (the ‘S’ in D.S.). After Mr Darnal started the company, his wife took over the ownership. She is now 64 years old and still guides the business. Women are naturally more compassionate and empathetic, which has helped our farmers feel more valued. Day-to-day company operations are managed by her son, Mr Yubaraj Darnal.

Our other strength is our farm. We have purposefully created it based on precision and good agricultural practices. With our experience and expertise, we are building a strong foundation of trust that we hope will lead the way for other small-scale farmers in eastern Nepal, and together we can grow.

D.S Agro industries is the biggest Nepali coffee farm in the model farming concept. It has high quality and processing methods.

Our third strength is quality. Quality is the focus of our company and that is why we grow single origin state coffee. Our product is of great quality, carefully grown in the highlands at 1,200–1,300m.

Our strengths

Our priority is to make sustainable specialty coffee.  We want to share specialty coffee from Nepal to the global market.

We provide and use only natural products. Our product is pure Arabica, directly from the coffee garden. We focus on single origin and state farming. Our customers can trust that our product is organically grown and cared for.
